FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The following are frequently asked questions about the Community-Based Real Estate Development Training (CBREDT) program. If you can’t find your answers here, contact us via email at Training@CBREDT.org.

Who can I contact if I have questions or technical difficulties?

If you have any issues or questions that cannot be answered through the FAQ section, please email Training@CBREDT.org.

Is there a cost to take the class?

No. There are no tuition costs or fees associated with the CBREDT class. Simply register online and complete all the modules as instructed to earn a completion certificate.

Are there any college credits associated with the class?

No. While the East Side Avenues team partners with the University at Buffalo’s School of Architecture and Planning, the program does not offer college credit. The program’s purpose is to train community members to successfully develop their own commercial properties.

How long does it take to complete the course?

Participants can complete the course at their own pace. CBREDT 101 must be completed before you can apply for the Pre-Development Coaching (PDC) program. For more information about the PDC, click here.

If I took the Community-Based Real Estate Development Training class before, could I take the online class again as a refresher?

Yes. The online class is open to anyone who registers.

Why did the program shift to an online platform?

The shift to online came from feedback from graduates, community members, and other stakeholders. With input from these groups, we identified what was working well and areas that could use improvement and/or expansion. This shift aims to increase access to the core educational programming (CBREDT 101) by allowing an unlimited number of participants and enabling people to participate at their own pace and with no financial commitment.

Is there any funding associated with the new CBREDT program?

Funding is not guaranteed for participants of the CBREDT program. Funding may be available to individuals who participate in the Pre-Development Coaching program. Click here for more information.

When and where will the in-person CBREDT 101 sessions take place? Are they mandatory?

Participants will be notified via email when in-person sessions will occur. Participation is not mandatory, but it is highly encouraged. Sessions will include: UrbanPlan, a networking event and a construction tour.

What if I have questions about a topic? Can I contact an instructor?

Instructor contact information is not available through this website. If you have any questions that cannot be answered through the FAQ section, please email Training@CBREDT.org, and we will attempt to get you a prompt response.

Is there a final exam?

No. There is no final exam. Instead, participants will have to complete a quiz at the end of each section.
